The mystery takes place in Oxford, Ohio but you get little flavor of what it is like to be part of Miami University. It is a good book, a page-turner, for those who want to be amused but not so good for those who love Miami and want to revisit the campus. DW Rosenthal's first novel is a fun filled mystery romp through the Oxford, OH area. Full of detail, history, and local legend brought to life, he leaders the reader on an exciting adventure!
I truly enjoyed DW Rosenthal's first novel. A fun, fast read that takes the reader on a treasure hunt through a small college town. There's lots of playful dialogue between the main characters. A great read for history buffs who are intrigued by local legends. Enjoy!

Purely enjoyable! That's DW Rosenthal's novel,Purely Academic. Murder, mayhew and treasure--what a combination! Add to that two university professors turned sleuths, a band of criminals, and a mystery man, and you have a page-turner. This book had me hooked from the first paragraph---who knew the uses of a putter? Rosenthal gets an "A" for presenting an unconventional couple teaming up to teach who's really in charge. Warning don't mess with Em...and keep the Wild Turkey handy!
Dan Brown move over - DW Rosenthal has written a page turner - a southwestern Ohio version of the Da Vinci code! I finished it last night and greatly enjoyed reading it. The story is fast-paced, the characters believable, and the setting easy to visualize.
This is a truly awful back. The main character/narrator is wholly unengaging. -- indeed, annoying The plot is unbelievable. I quit about a third of the way in. The book is a total loss.
